Wrapping Headers - Starting the wrap and how to anchor the wrap
Like I've got a 10mm socket?
That aluminium is definitely NOT 10mil/10mm thick.
If wrapping with an inch overlap, can we expect to further reduce radiant heat?
I don’t see any red oxide primer on that panel
It was not required on this piece as it already had a primer on it 👍 All we did was scuff the primer so that the coating had a nice surface to grab onto
Can I use it over epoxy DTM primer?
@@my32rod Yes that should be fine! We have used it successfully with epoxy primer. We have not specifically tested it with the DTM Primer, but we believe it should be fine. We just recommend testing it in a small area before fully installing.
@@DesignEngineering Thank you for the quick response.
I just ordered some of this. Going to give this a try
Going to try this stuff im having major vapor lock on my engine the metal lines are boiled fuel .. i pulled the rubber off the metal line and heard it boiling..and ive broken down 4 times now. Exhaust pipe is right along the entire fuel line to the tank. Hope this works
Does this resist gasoline? Just wondering
After I trim to length, do I need to be concerned about it fraying?
That's what I was wondering. Whole reason I looked on this video lol
I have a Jeep Wrangler. It has a small triangle shaped trim piece on both front doors that is causing wind noise. The original foam that was underneath it basically disintegrated. Think this stuff will help wind/sound proof it?

Just installed these on my '23 Chieftain. I look forward to huge heat relief in this sweltering summer! I'll update how it feels... maybe upload a video of my installation process too. Thanks!
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts! Thank you for the support and trust in our product! 🤜
Bolt holes don’t line up. Garbage product.
Please reach out directly to our tech department, tech@designengineering.com - we have sold thousands of these kits without issue! We should be able to sort out what the issue is immediately
@@DesignEngineering I already know what the issues is, I don’t need a tech dept to figure out the problem. The holes don’t line up which makes it a garbage product. You’ve sold thousands of these in which the holes don’t line up. What are you going to do, line the holes up with magic? Lol
@@user-oi4in1cx1f We would be happy to try and correct this situation for you if you could just reach out directly to our tech department 👍
Good way to keep you heat in the engine!
How about using CV Boot Crimp Clamps ?
Hello sir thanks for the video, I also want to apply this heatwrap for my exhaust because a small piece of hood is melted by the heat of the exhaust. Is it possible if I make a small piece of wrap of this where it gets about hot at my Greetings Silk
I have used this product with success. I have wet it, though. Instead of the ties (which I have purchased at a local DYI home store), I have whipped the ends with a good quality wire. I have also used water-based glue (like Elmer's) to further secure the ends. It works! Don't use petroleum-based glue. I then spray the wrap with the correct heat paint. Enjoy. (Wear a long-sleeved shirt!)
Dare I ask, is wrapping the exhaust manifold whilst ON the care possible/beneficial?
You can attempt it, but it will be much more difficult! There is no benefit to doing that.
Fiat abarth can i wrap my turbo hose with this it is up against the coolant line
Are you referring to one of the oil feed lines on the turbo? For an application like that, you would be better off using one of our line sleeving offerings. Either Fire Sleeve or Fire Wrap 3000
thanks for making this video. I was really unsure how to install this, really simplified it greatly. cheers!
Wow, what a good tip about the scuffing & adhesion promoter; thanks!
Black Sabbath rocks but I'd love to hear the motor on that Corvette screaming down the track !!!
Exactly what everyone wants to hear at a fucking drag strip....MUSIC!!!! Great job dumbass!!!
Is the difference purely cosmetic? any material property differences between the titanium and the onyx? I have looked on your comparison chart and on the last gen there was more heat resistance to the titanium model but when looking at the Gen 3 the onyx and titanium both seem to have the same heat resistance rating of 2500°F / 1371°C Radiant 1800°F / 982°C Direct.
No difference besides color! Outer layer on the Onyx is the same it just has a black dye added 👍
@@DesignEngineering I ended up purchasing the gen 3 ti T4 blanket! excited!
@@divinfLLC Awesome, you will love it. Thank you for the support and trust in our products! 🙌
Sold AMG customs ready for pick up
May I place it on top of the Kilmat I've already applied?
Yes that will work! 👍
What if i have catless downpipes? Will it still be beneficial?
Yes it would be. It is still blocking heat, just maybe a tad less with the set up being catless.
Thanks so much, this will really help me install the heatwrap.
Thanks for taking the time to watch! Glad that this was able to help 👍
Promo-SM 😩
Is the idea of the wrap to keep the outside cool if you touch off it
My understanding is that It also helps the gases/heat escape faster from the exhaust.
Warning the picture they show is not what you receive 30 bucks for a straight piece of metal not a box
It's the news guy from Cleveland lol
Didu work on a news station in Cleveland
Do you have to seal this wrap with the high heat silicone paint
It is not required! It is common for people to spray to black titanium with the black HT spray to help preserve the color of the wrap. It is more so encouraged for the glass fiber wraps.
😂😂
This is awesome 🔥👏
🔥🔥🔥
My guy! NNNNNICE
Wouldn't be possible without your guys amazing support!! Appreciate every bit of it! 🙌👊
Gotta find a project to try this out!!!
Let's do it!!!!
What's the difference between this and the aluminized heat sheath? Seem to have the same specs.
You don't soak in water before wrapping?
was going to bed liner my 1999 xj
Can you use this on rubber hoses like a power steering line ?!🔥
We would not recommend using exhaust wrap for an application like that. Check our reply on your other comment 👍
Can you use it on a power steering line that’s new as a heat protector ?
You should be able to use Quick Fix Tape as a temporary fix on the low pressure return line, but we would not use it on any high pressure line.
Who did this that time and how is it now? Need to know for i wanted to install also this wrap
I did this to mine years ago without sealing it and it’s holding strong. It’s turned white in some areas because I didn’t seal it. I’m redoing mine now and will be sealing it.
Pour the whole bottle..
The whole bottle
How to maintain it after installation? Will washing my bike effect wraps quality/ life?
You’ll want to seal the wrap but if you don’t it’ll still be fine. The water will evaporate out of the wrap but eventually the heat from the exhaust will cause the wrap to turn white. Best to avoid all that by sealing it as instructed.
🔥🔥🔥
Should I put the factory plastic battery cover over the cell saver? Thx.
If it fits, there should not be an issue doing that! 👍
